Jigar Patel, MD, FAMIA

Jigar S Patel, MD, FAMIA is an accomplished Senior Executive and Advisor with more than 15 years of success across the healthcare, information technology, and higher education industries. His broad areas of expertise include medical informatics, technology in medicine, patient safety, and quality improvement. Dr. Patel had held numerous leadership positions at Cerner Corporation. He currently leads a team working with Cerner’s largest commercial clients to advance their solutions and achieve value from their Cerner investment. Dr Patel has previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Cerner Government Services, Physician Alignment Organization, Investor Owned Team, CommunityWorks, and Sales, leading and collaborating with teams that served in all aspects of the client lifecycle. Dr. Patel’s progressive advancement within Cerner Corporation has allowed him to interact and contribute to many areas within Cerner’s business, including sales support, business development, consulting services, emerging businesses, for profit, government, and rural healthcare industries, research, and intellectual property. Prior to his role at Cerner Corporation, Dr. Patel was as an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine for the University of Kansas and served as the Associate Medical Director of the Blood Bank at The University of Kansas Medical Center and Associate Medical Director of the Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City. Dr. Patel obtained his Medical Doctorate (MD) from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Patel was an intern in General Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland, resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at University Hospitals of Cleveland, and a fellow in Transfusion Medicine at the Greater Cleveland Transfusion Medicine Program at the American Red Cross of Northern Ohio. Dr Patel is a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).
