Stressed Importance of Interoperability and Meeting Unique Needs of Specialty Providers
Highlighting the importance of interoperability, understanding the workflow needs of providers and predictive analytics, Net Health CEO Josh Pickus recently shared insights into the industry and company with HIStalk. The online publication is one of the more well-respected healthcare tech media outlets and frequently interviews leading CEOs while providing news and analysis. In the Q&A with the publication editor, Josh detailed Net Health’s role in several specialties, including rehab therapy, wound care and long-term post-acute care (LTPAC) facilities. He explained that while there are commonalities in the role of technology for hospitals and specialty providers, there are also crucial differences, and that’s where Net Health steps in.
For example, all providers need to accurately document care in ways that are compliant and capture correct reimbursement codes in the electronic health record (EHR). But depending on where those providers work – a hospital – rehab facility – or wound clinic – they will have different needs and require different levels of information and insights. Net Health provides the specialty knowledge that sets it apart from standard and more generalized systems.
“You would be shocked.”
Josh also talked about the importance of integration and seamless data sharing. “We are unique in that in the specialties we serve, we are really hospital-to-home,” he stated. “There isn’t a common system or even accepted language to go from hospital to home, to transmit core patient data seamlessly, easily, and accurately.” Those capabilities and insights make Net Health technology unique in the industry.
As an example, he shared more on the data that’s lacking in most general EHRs. “You would be shocked that basic stuff — like if you’re a nursing home and you want to know something beyond the patient’s name and age, such as the existence of any behavioral health concerns — that isn’t as easy as you would think to obtain,” he noted. Josh explained that providing these essential insights and making them seamless and integrated into workflow was a key focus for Net Health technology.
Stressing Connectivity and Using Your Data
With the growth in hospitals-at-home and remote patient monitoring, the editor also asked how Net Health fits into the evolving healthcare marketplace. Josh stressed again Net Health’s capabilities, experience and products to meet demands and needs. “Remote patient monitoring is here. It’s real. It’s in use,” he noted. “There are a lot of things that can be done by that physician or caregiver without the patient in the room. That feels real to us, and we are introducing all kinds of capabilities to support that trend.”
To close out the interview, the editor asked about what Josh sees for the future. He stressed again the importance of analytics, integration and interoperability – cornerstones of Net Health products today. “The importance of connecting with other systems and using the data you have to deliver insights is the future we see as Net Health continues to evolve,” he summarized.
