Three Tips to Planning Your Time at CSM 2020

Are you ready to kick off the new decade at APTA’s 2020 Combined Sections Meeting (CSM), February 12-15 in Denver, Colorado? As the largest physical therapy (PT) conference in the country, APTA brings together clinicians, directors, staff and other rehab leaders from across the country to hear from innovative thinkers, share best practices and learn about the latest PT developments. It’s a fantastic opportunity that I encourage everyone to consider.  Whether you’re new to CSM or an experienced CSM attendee, here are three tips to help you make the most of your time:

1. Create a “Top Sessions List”

With so many great sessions on the agenda, now is the time to start planning which ones will be on your “must-see” list. This will help you to prioritize topics and get the most out of your experience.  I’ve compiled my picks for the top five sessions to attend—check them out below. From care strategies to changes in therapy reimbursement to clinician burnout, these are my “not to be missed” sessions. What are yours?  Visit the CSM website to review the program and build your schedule now.

2. Schedule Professional Meetings

CMS is not just about education, it’s also about networking. I always look forward to running into old colleagues and making new connections. While some of your interactions will be spontaneous, others need to be planned in advance. CSM gathers the best and brightest in our industry—so it’s the perfect place to forge new professional relationships and career opportunities. Is there someone you’d like to meet? Don’t leave that up to chance; reach out and schedule a meeting today.

3. Sign Up for Fun

While that may sound counter-intuitive, the best social hours and events tend to fill up fast. There are a number of activities being planned at the show, so find out which ones you want to be at and register early. Of course, we recommend that you join our Valentine’s Day Mixer on Friday, Feb. 14th. FOTO®, ReDoc®, and BuildPT have joined up to show our love and appreciation for the hard work you do every day as rehab leaders and clinicians. The party is just minutes away from the convention center at the restaurant Tamayo, starting at 7 pm, for dinner and drinks. Click here to register.

I hope to see you all there in a few weeks…and be sure you stop by ReDoc booth #1721 and FOTO booth #1627 to say hello!
