{Straight talk for clients}
Each quarter we work with our in‐house experts to give you ReDoc feature highlights and share industry knowledge.
Dear ReDoc,
I’ve heard a lot about tracking outcomes and know they are important, but is it really worth the time and resources required?
The short answer is YES, focusing on outcomes is absolutely worth the investment! But let’s dive in a little deeper…
The Solution
You have probably at least heard of FOTO by now, but in case you haven’t – FOTO provides the ability for your clinic to measure and compare outcomes for individual patient care and overall clinic performance. FOTO integrates with ReDoc and ReDoc powered by xfit, which function as full-service solutions with the complete picture of a patient all in one place.
Patients, clinicians, management, referring physicians, and payers all have something to gain from taking a closer look at outcomes. Let’s explore how each of these groups benefit from managing outcomes with FOTO.
Patients
We all like to see progress – especially for patients with more out of pocket expenses than ever due to copays and high-deductible health plans. FOTO makes patients’ progress easily trackable with real-time patient assessments. The Patient Report is available at the start of care and allows patients to see a prediction of the improvement they can achieve based on other patients with nearly identical characteristics, such as age, acuity and number of surgeries. When progress is slow, patients may have trouble noticing improvement and may not be able to justify therapy as something worth their investment. But when clinicians share status assessment results, patients can be reassured they are actually improving and can be motivated to continue with their plan of care and to achieve their goals.
Clinicians
Patients are anxious to reach their goals as quickly as possible, but this is no easy task. They look to their clinicians for support and need to be able to trust them. FOTO Patient Specific Reports help clinicians better understand what their patient is experiencing, and they can use that information to build relationships with patients, promote patient engagement, and set realistic goals. Because FOTO is embedded within ReDoc, clinicians can get a quick snapshot of how a patient is doing and access FOTO scores, cancellations, no show rates, and plans of care. Clinicians can provide fair and accurate outcome comparisons, which are based on 13 risk-adjusted categories. Sharing the progress patients are making throughout the course of treatment encourages them to continue coming back to therapy.
Management
FOTO outcomes data helps clinic managers evaluate how their clinicians are performing within the clinic, as well as how they compare on a national level. It’s easy to identify a clinician’s strengths and weaknesses by specific body part, allowing for the opportunity to guide continuing education needs in weaker areas of care.
Additionally, the ability for a clinic to prove and market their outcomes creates opportunity for increased patient and physician referrals, especially as patients desire to make their own decisions about which clinician to see.
Referring Physicians
Clinicians can demonstrate how well their patients are doing and convey the value of their care to both current and potential referring physicians using NQF (National Quality Forum) endorsed measures and risk-adjusted comparative data from the FOTO system. Clinicians are able to provide referring physicians with real-time updates on the patient’s functional improvements during treatment with FOTO Physician Reports. Send these out with just the click of a button.
Payers
Payers want predictable payments, and the fewer visits it takes for patients to meet their goals, the better. FOTO’s predictive analytics support payers in determining guidelines for the number of visits needed to meet their functional goals. When insurance companies see greater success in fewer visits, they are often willing to pay more for those good outcomes. One particular clinic has seen a $40 per visit increase in revenue since 2011 due to the utilization of the FOTO outcomes management system, which has been instrumental to their growth.

And the winner is….
Thanks for your input on our fourth quarter Product Satisfaction Survey.
Each quarter, we ask you to complete a brief survey sharing feedback on ReDoc. Those who complete the survey are entered into a drawing, this time around for an iPad or a donation to a charitable organization of the winner’s choice. The winner is Deirdre S. Congratulations! Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!
