Devotion Hospice EHR Software Case Study – Net Health

Hospice in Texas experiences a wide range of benefits that provide ease of use for nurses and clinicians though an EHR partnership.

  • The Challenge
  • The Solution
  • The Results

Our team absolutely loves the fact that Net Health Optima Hospice is so easy to work with and helpful. I always get email responses, and somebody answers really quickly. And the questions are answered or escalated if needed in a very timely manner.”

Shawn Stevens, Owner of Devotion Hospice

The Challenge

Located north of Houston, Texas, Devotion Hospice opened its doors in March 2019, a year before the COVID-19 pandemic hit cities and states nationwide. Back then, Shawn Stevens, owner and administrator of the company, saw many challenges affecting her staff. To begin with, getting documentation records and patient information in order was both endless and time consuming.

Other challenges revolved around the workflow of the IDT (Interdisciplinary Team). “We struggled to get signatures during IDT,” said Stevens. “Just trying to get documents and orders signed in IDT was a struggle.”

Additionally, ensuring that care plans flowed properly – from documentation to assessment to patient intake – also proved to be a hassle. With so many interrupted workflow processes, Devotion

Hospice looked for an answer that would put these issues to rest.

The Solution

When an opportunity presented itself to consider a software solution that would reduce or eliminate their problems, Net Health Optima Hospice was a clear frontrunner. “There were a lot of features that we liked when looking at the different EMRs,” said Stevens.

The software solution’s numerous features and functionalities have provided the following for staff members:

  • Ease of use across the board for clinicians
  • Streamlined IDT process with automatic documentation
  • Seamless integration of nursing and discipline assessments
  • Easy scheduling capabilities for the management team
  • Quick, responsive customer service around the clock

Making the switch allowed Devotion Hospice to fully utilize a wide selection of features that streamlined workflow efficiencies and daily tasks. Even from the start, the customer service team was ready to help them with any of their needs.

“During our beginning phase, when we were building out the program, the team was very helpful,” said Stevens. “Once we jumped into the next phase, they still remained helpful, ready to answer questions right away.

The scheduling feature is a highlight for my team. It is something they use in their day-to-day function, and it helps them in their workflow.”

The Results

Since implementing the Net Health Optima Hospice software solution in their day-to-day patient care and around-the-clock scheduling, Devotion Hospice has kept their documentation up to date, while also cutting down on costs along the way.

“One thing I really like about the system is just to be able to look at it and tell if a nurse is caught up on her documentation,” pointed out Stevens. “Making sure that those things are done is cost saving. And it’s also time saving not having to spend hours going through and completing audits.”

By turning to an EHR software solution, Devotion Hospice has also enjoyed a slew of additional benefits that include:

  • Seamless integration with their pharmacy, home care and inpatient care
  • Convenient, mobile access to patient charts prior to a home visit
  • Smooth billing processes that are integrated in the system
  • Reduced time completing documentation and necessary patient information
