Simple Yet Effective Tip #3 for Your Private Practice: Register Your Domain

Positioning one’s company against competitors in the market is one of the longstanding challenges posed to every business owner in every industry.  In this online world we live in today, securing domain names for your private practice is an important element to keep up with the business competition. And that’s what we want to focus on in this week’s tip for your private practice.

For starters, let’s look at what a domain name is exactly. A domain name is simply the online address of your company’s website or email. Typically, with a website, it follows the format of .com at the end. Registering your company’s domain name is usually straight-forward and only takes a few minutes. What’s worth keeping in mind is to sign up for a domain name that you do intend to use for your practice.

Here are a few tips to ensure you don’t miss out on a good domain name experience for your practice:

Choose a Domain Registrar Website with Good Customer Service

There are plenty of domain registrars (the websites that sell domain names) online. I typically recommend selecting a registrar that has really good reviews and high ratings for customer satisfaction.  The annual price for a domain name varies, depending where you look. And as you build your website, it’s important to have helpful customer service you can turn to should any issues or questions arise.

Register Additional Domain Names Similar to Your Domain Name

For example, say you register a domain name that is ABCPhysicalTherapy.com, you may then also wish to purchase ABCPhysicalTherapy.net and ABCPhysicalTherapy.org.  For those wishing to get creative with their domain name, the purchase of GetABCTherapyNow.com (or the like) may have some appeal.

Don’t Wait for Your Website to be Fully Created

If a new website isn’t in your budget right now, that’s okay. The main thing to remember is you can register your domain name, and then when you are ready and have the budget to do so, you can then proceed to building your private practice’s website. Lock in your domain name now, and it will be there for you when the website is ready for development. Note that you can also begin using email at your domain address regardless of whether or not a website exists at your domain.
