{Straight talk for clients}
At the WoundExpert Client Conference in conjunction with SAWC Spring 2016, we asked: What do you want to read about in the Flash newsletter? We heard loud and clear—”Tell us about new features!” This flash highlights a host of new features that have been made available in recent releases.
August 2016
Dear WoundExpert,
Leading up to feature releases, I see messages indicating that WoundExpert will be performing system maintenance and the application may be temporarily unavailable. During these times, have new features been added that might make my life easier?
The Scenario
You request updates to be made to WoundExpert – for example, you want to be able to import the Physical Exam from visit to visit. You see that WoundExpert performs system maintenance, but you’re not sure what feature requests have been addressed.
The Solution
In addition to posting new features to the login page after each release, this WoundExpert Flash highlights key features that have been made available. It is one big list, answering the burning question: Did you know?
Did you know…there are new time-savers?
- Medications can be imported from a previous admission. Click on the ‘”Retrieve Medications from Previous Admissions” link on Medications.
- A patient’s medication history can be retrieved from First Databank. Click on the “Retrieve Patient’s Medication History” link on Medications.
- Medical Record Number and Account Number can be automatically generated in WoundExpert. Contact Customer Support if you want this feature enabled.
- HCPCS codes can be automated to the superbill based on products ordered in Physician Orders. Contact Customer Support if you want this feature enabled.
- The Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) and Plan of Care documentation can feed the Progress Note. Go to My Profile / Documentation Configuration / Progress Note Template.
- Users can select the most frequently documented body systems, creating a Physical Exam Quick View, as well as establish WNL and Abnormal templates. Go to My Profile / Documentation Configuration / Physical Exam Template or Physical Exam Quick View.
- The Review of Systems now has Quick View set up. Go to My Profile / Documentation Configuration / ROS Quick View.
- Physical Exam documentation can be imported from a previous encounter to the current encounter. The user previews the document first and selects what to import. Contact Customer Support if you want this feature enabled.
Did you know…there are new alerts?
- An alert can be enabled notifying a user upon login that there are outstanding signatures. Contact Customer Support if you want this feature enabled.
- An alert can be enabled notifying if an insurance payer requires authorization, but no authorizations are documented for the patient when scheduling a visit. Contact Customer Support if you want this feature enabled.
Did you know…there are new documentation options?
- There is an Abuse Screening document.
- A field can be enabled indicating there is no measurable depth for a wound on the Wound Assessment. Contact Customer Support if you want this feature enabled.
- A customizable Visit Status can be applied to visits on the Calendar, helping to identify, for example, if the patient is ready to be seen by a physician. Go to Facility Admin / Facility Setup / Calendar Setup / Status Admin.
- To align with industry advancements, new NPWT and Skin Substitute procedures are available. Go to Facility Admin / Documentation Settings / Document Options / Skin Substitute – Form Options.
- Custom questions can be added to the bottom of all documents, helping to address items like hospital policies. Go to Facility Admin / Documentation Settings / Document Options / Custom Questions.
- Five custom forms are now available for documentation to supplement the robust clinical content already in WoundExpert. Go to Facility Admin / Documentation Settings / Document Options / Custom Form 1-5.

Connections Corner
WoundExpert wants to save you time. One way we do this is through the Net Health Connections Program, which makes ordering supplies for clinical care fast, easy, and accurate by replacing paper order forms and fax machines with electronic connections to a facility’s preferred vendors.
Here are the latest, free updates to our Connections modules:
We are excited to announce our newest connections, Cardinal Health and Edgepark! You can find Edgepark Medical Supplies within the Wound Product Supplier (WPS) Module. Cardinal Health is in both the WPS and the Negative Wound Pressure Therapy (NPWT) module.
The Connections modules can be automatically enabled within WoundExpert. Please contact WoundExpert Customer Support at feedback@nethealth.com if you have any questions.

And the winner is…
Thanks for your input on August’s Product Satisfaction Survey.
Each quarter, we ask you to complete a brief survey sharing feedback on WoundExpert. Those who complete the survey are entered into a drawing, this time for an Apple Watch, Sport edition or a donation to a charitable organization of the winner’s choice. And this quarter’s winner is Vickie D. Congratulations! Thanks for your thoughtful feedback.
Keep your eye out for next quarter’s survey, scheduled for this November.
