{Straight talk for clients}
This month we’re talking about PQRS. Eligible Providers (EPs) must report 2015 data by February 26, 2016, are you participating?
Expert tip: Full 2015 data should be reviewed in January 2016 to prepare for February reporting. Submitting your 2015 data helps you avoid negative payment adjustments in 2017. If you’re just beginning to plan your involvement with PQRS now, it’s best to look at the most straightforward reporting methods supported by tools you already use in your facility.
October 2015
Dear WoundExpert,
I am eligible to participate in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and am looking for the easiest way to report my data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Can WoundExpert submit my PQRS data directly to CMS?
The Scoop
Do the following statements describe you?
- You’ve confirmed you’re an Eligible Professional (EP) for participation in PQRS and you want to avoid a negative payment adjustment in 2017. (Unsure if you’re an EP? Review Net Health’s PQRS FAQs to see.)
- You’ve used claims to report in the past, or didn’t have time to participate at all, and are thinking, “This is serious, there must be a better solution!”
- Your facility uses WoundExpert for wound care medical record documentation and you think it would be amazingly efficient if that data could be seamlessly submitted to CMS.
The Solution
Yes, you can submit PQRS data directly from WoundExpert. Using the Net Health Specialty Care Registry helps to capture the data points necessary for PQRS reporting. Registrants are able to keep tabs on things with our PQRS Monitoring Report. Becuase it’s integrated with WoundExpert, it identifies your Medicare patient population, pulls data for the measures you’ve chosen to submit to CMS, and indicates your current success rate per measure.
Use the PQRS Monitoring Report to:
- Verify that you are satisfactorily meeting each measure prior to reporting
- Guide any needed data collection process improvements
The best part? In 2016 (upon verification), Net Health will report 2015 data to CMS on your behalf.
Bonus material: Net Health’s Chief Clinical Officer, Cathy Thomas Hess, BSN, RN, CWOCN, published a helpful step-by-step PQRS reporting guide in the July issue of Advances in Skin & Wound Care. Here, she runs through various considerations about reporting methods and choosing measures. Plus, the article includes links to CMS’ best current resources on the matter. Take a look.

We all know it’s usually not possible to be an entirely paperless office. But, don’t let printing critical documents be a huge inefficient job when it must be done.
Did you know that WoundExpert’s batch print feature make it fast and easy to print multiple documents at once? Use it to:
- Print multiple documents for one patient
- Print a specific document for multiple patients
- Filter for criteria like active/inactive, physician, or service line
- Print wound assessments to append to a referral letter
- Explore the tool and see for yourself how helpful it can be!
If you have any questions about the batch print feature, please contact WoundExpert Client Services at Feedback@nhsinc.com.
