Net Health’s CIO discusses diversity and how it can build a stronger organization

Diversity in the workplace is an on-going issue but it’s an issue with solutions. To build diversity, it takes forward-thinking initiatives, a reexamination of the hiring philosophy, and the support of the company’s decision-makers.  One such supporter of diversity in the workplace is Net Health’s CIO, Jason “JJ” James.  Recent social movements like Black Lives […]

Self-Help Resources and Support Provided by Casamba Home & Hospice Help Regional Hospice Save Time and Be More Efficient

Having quick access to a library of educational guides and materials helps save time for this non-profit hospice agency in Connecticut

The Challenge

Roughly 50 miles from New York City, Regional Hospice is the largest non-profit organization in Western Connecticut. Located in Danbury, CT, the organization has been providing end-of-life care and bereavement support to surrounding communities for almost 40 years.

Regional Hospice implemented Casamba Home & Hospice back in 2010 when they realized their previous EHR solution wasn’t as user-friendly and hospice-oriented as they wanted it to be. From helping with patient care to administrative tasks, Casamba Home & Hospice has served many beneficial purposes, and recently, Regional clinicians were thrilled to see a new addition to the system that would simplify their everyday processes even more.

“Education Corners is a great resource for me to refresh my memory on certain topics.”

Robin Viklund, Regional’s Clinical Informatics & Special Projects Registered Nurse

The Solution

Education Corners – a location where users can find educational materials within the product – has been of utmost help for Robin Viklund, Regional’s Clinical Informatics & Special Projects Registered Nurse.

As part of the EHR solution’s Customer Community page, Education Corners includes a number of materials on different topics, ranging from HomeMobile to Financial Office to Security.

“Education Corners is a great resource for me to refresh my memory on certain topics. I find the actual articles I need and get the answers myself,” said Robin. “I can also show other staff members that they can go into the community itself.”

Education Corners offers the following:

  • Convenient tutorials and a self-help center
  • Clear access to documents and videos
  • Easily digestible information on various topics
  • Helpful resources for quick answers

“These resources have served to minimize the need for customer support for Regional,” pointed Robin.

The Results

In addition to articles, slides, webinars and recordings, Education Corners also contains quick reference guides that help provide immediate answers – and this alone has resulted in time saved for Regional Hospice.

“It has definitely prevented me from calling support when, instead, I can go into EC and teach myself,” said Robin. “I don’t struggle to find what I’m looking for. I get to it right away.”

Robin shares that one of the hospice agency’s goals is to help all staff members know that this resourceful tool is available with Casamba Home & Hospice. EC is available to all users, regardless of whether you’re a nurse, social worker or director.

As Regional Hospice continues to put the care of their patients first, Education Corners is readily available with information and resources any time they need it.
