As a hospital-bases outpatient department it is essential that you not only be financially responsible, and fiscally responsible, but that you help to generate inpatient volume, outpatient volume, and revenue for other departments.
Prior to WoundExpert, we would have to pull the information from either missed visits, or ancillary service reports, or healing rates, or how many diabetic patients we had per physician. It was very time consuming logging all of that information, gathering all that information. Now it has cut that down by 200-fold. It’s at the click of a button. My nurses can be more clinical.
I’ve used several EMRs over the last 7 years. And I found it to be easy to use, WoundExpert feels intuitive as you change from the History of Present Illness to the Review of Systems to the Physical Exam, to the Progress Note, and the ultimately placing your Super Bill in.
It’s all about Charge Capture for Physicians. Physicians, they want to provide good care. They want to help patients, the want to heal patients. But it has to be a financially sound practice for them. So what WoundExpert does is help capture those charges. Something that would otherwise be missed in documentation. Because of the procedure notes that roll over into the Superbill. And that Superbill is easily printed with all the diagnostic codes that be handed over to a billing service.
In WoundExpert, the Superbill is laid out in almost a self-explanatory way. You have the ICD-9 Codes at the top, and you have the procedural codes right below that. You are looking at what a doctor, or a biller, or coder, or auditor would be looking at if they were trying to see what you’ve done for the patient.
It was a no-brainer. Medical Management companies, the cost is between 20,000 and 60,000 a month. So that’s a significant amount of money to try to capture revenue charge. And so when you look at it that way, and the cost and savings for additional staff to pull the information for your billing and coding, and the ease of use, then it more than pays for itself.
I think WoundExpert would be an excellent choice for any wound clinic or physician to use in documenting accurately and correctly. Wound care that is occurring at that clinic. It is easy to use. It’s not because it’s a simple program, for as, you’re not getting much information, it’s because it is intuitive, and complete.
When you have to answer to a board, or you have to answer to a CEO or director, and they ask you specific questions, and you’re still a clinician inside the clinic you don’t have the time to spend days and days looking for those answers. WoundExpert enables me to find those answers very quickly. And turn over that information to my board and my administration very easily.
It has enabled me to be more of a clinician than just stuck behind a desk all day.
