Must-Haves for an Effective EH Software Solution

Employee Health (EH) departments in hospitals and healthcare systems are doing more work than ever. Not only do employee health solutions require new attention to rapidly-changing COVID vaccine and quarantine mandates, but the definition of employee health has also grown to encompass general wellness initiatives. Luckily, employee health software has evolved along with these needs to help streamline, automate, and improve everything from communication to compliance.

But what makes an employee health software system maximally effective?

1) Next-Generation Tracking and Monitoring Tools

By now it’s clear that paperless solutions are the best way to keep track of hospital employee health. But not all employee health software systems are the same. It’s important to employ an integrated system that can pull data from health information that employees submit and official records so EH departments can track employee wellness using a variety of metrics.

Next-generation employee health software helps EH departments to identify workplace hazards or potential infectious disease spread.1 And most importantly, it enables occupational health records to be kept separate from private health data to ensure privacy.

2) Automatically-Generated Reports

Collecting data is one thing, but it’s not really useful until it can be used to identify and solve problems. One of the major benefits of an employee health software system is that it can automatically generate reports on anything from compliance to participation in wellness programs to vaccination status with just a few clicks. The right software will give EH managers immediate insight into key performance indicators and allow them to easily share reports with key stakeholders.

3) Accurate and Flexible Compliance Monitoring

It used to be that compliance regulations would stay the same for years and any changes would be signaled in advance. But COVID has shown us that best practices for safety can change overnight. An employee health software system isn’t just convenient in this case, it’s crucial to update records and pull up reports on compliance immediately.

4) Immunization Tracking and Compliance

From COVID boosters to flu shots, tracking employee immunizations is central to hospital employee health software. More specifically, mobile immunization tracking software helps EH departments avoid unnecessary illness by ensuring that employees get vaccinated in a timely manner, sending out reminders and notices of new requirements, verifying vaccination status, delivering consent forms, and ensuring compliance by providing employees with Vaccine Information Statements (VIS). This kind of record-keeping simply can’t be done reliably on paper and automating these procedures reduces the risk of human error in recording.

5) Resources for a Comprehensive Wellness Program

Employee health covers more than just disease and injury. In fact, implementing corporate wellness initiatives involves a variety of lifestyle data. Engaging a workforce in their wellness journeys requires EH departments to provide an intuitive interface for data entry as well as one that can be updated with new features. Ideally, employee health software can collect wellness biometrics, keep track of them, and facilitate the offering of both incentives and suggestions to employees.

At a minimum, Employee Health departments need software that enables easy automation, tracking and reporting capabilities, and ways of generating reports to stay compliant and keep hospital employees at their best all while keeping personal health information secure.
